Departure

My journey to Singapore!

I left Oahu on December 27 in the night. My flight to Seattle was delayed for an hour and it was a full flight. I took precautions while being so close to people on a plane so I wore latex gloves, used wipes to disinfect high-touch areas and only ate after others near me had finished. Traveling by myself for the first time and also being at an airport I've never been, I felt that I had plenty of layover time to familiarize myself with my surroundings. It was so fascinating landing in Seattle because I could see snow everywhere and even snow flakes on the window. I kept myself busy during my layover in Seattle by buying some breakfast and facetiming my parents while making sure I had all the necessary documents to board the next flight to Singapore. Being that I have never touched snow before or been in very cold temperatures I wanted to somehow go outside and experience snow but of course I couldn't. So the closest thing I got to experience was the breeze of cold air seeping through the gaps of the boarding tunnel connected to the plane. Just from that breeze I was so cold I started chattering my teeth! Onto the layover in Vancouver, I remained in the plane while more passengers boarded and then I was finally off to Singapore. Despite the very long flight, it wasn't that bad. I slept most of the time and didn't have anyone sitting directly next to me, only a passenger at the aisle seat. But a complication I did have was landing in Singapore an hour later than the expected arrival time so it would affect which day my quarantine starts on considering that I had booked a hotel for December 29.

7 day Quarantine

Due to a late arrival in Singapore and leaving the airport by 1 am, my 7 day quarantine ended up being from Dec 30 to Jan 6 instead of Dec 29 to Jan 5. I stayed in the Aqueen Hotel @Paya Lebar and it was a nice hotel. I had a decent view of the city and had natural light coming into my room. I decided not to opt into the hotel's meal plan and instead used food delivery apps such as Foodpanda and Grab. The process of getting my food was very easy because the drivers only needed to hand my food to the front desk and from there they would deliver it to my room. I had to do an arrival PCR test and one more before I was allowed to leave my quarantine. I was instructed to leave my hotel on the 4th day of the SHN (stay at home notice) to go to a testing center. It was my first day out and I used the Grab app to conveniently book a driver to and from the testing site.
